    wat exactly is a poormans TYPE-R i hear that its a gsr block wit b16 head or a gsr block wit Type-r head and wat is the best ecu 2 use with it

    PMTR is a gsr block with a B 16 head and type R pistons, if you can get a R head then I guess you could call it a type R. Just my two cents.. As Far as the best ECU....probably a JDM R computer... but tuning it would be the best bet.

    I am doing one on the side and I'll let you know how it works out:D

      still missing the crank, and rods so not an R yet. P28 or P72 no matter what setup you are using

          if you have that motor for sale around fall let me know im interested in having one after my friend has his last year

              Poor mans Type R,

              Is a Stock gsr bottom end and a b16 head.

              The idea is that you've got a reliable bottom end capable of high revs, and a 16 head is the exact same mold of the type R head, the only difference is whats in side. Most people do the b16 head with type r cams and call it a day.

              If your going to start buying pistons and swapping out internals, your defeating the purpose of a poormans type r, as far as an ECU goes, if both head and bottom end are stock you can get away with a gsr, ifyou do type r cams, the usdm type r ecu will do just fine.


              FYI, Poor mans type R never did any justice.

                to tell you the truth....i knew a kid who had a legitly buiilt poor mans type r in an ek coupe that was tuned and all good.....that sucker had some power....no boost or spray...all type r ************ for internals gsr block...type r head with skunk valvetrain....that ************ moved....alot more that my lsvtec with type r internals
