had same exact problem , when u hit 3 to 4k rpm u got switch gears if not the car will feels like it want to stall (rite). Its either ur useing the wrong distribution that has diff specs, ur distributor timing could be off check it with a timing light. or make u got good connection with ur distributor internal like that little ignition spring, and rotor to make sure it not burned, the distributor cap, also check ur spark plug gaps.GOOD LUCK

If you have open vacuum lines, that means you have a vacuum leak.. the engine will never run right if theres un-metered air entering the intake manifold. Hook everything up to the correct places.
