If he gets a p28 and gets it set there aren't a bunch of things floating around in the car for a thief to see and rip off. Also he will have to get it tuned when he boosts it. When the tuner tunes it he can set vtec to kick in at the optimal time and it will stay like that forever, no worries about his vtec controller breaking or someone fuckin with it. Also I thought you had to put a y7 cam gear and belt on the y8 head...but I am not positive seeing how I have not done one...maybe that's a d15.

amed, all the 1.6 blocks are the same

there has been alot of debate with the z6 or y8 head.. which one flows better??? theres not a significant difference with the 2.

i would use the y8 IM w/ a LS throttle body

and if your going to boost just use a thicker HG

I believe one has shorter runners (z6) than the other (y8) which is better for boost but I think the difference is negligible if your goal is a quick car on a budget. If everything on the head is good you are gettin a bargain.

so i decided to just put the intake from the y8 until i can get a dizzy and ecu for the vtec. so i got the intake off and then figured out that advance gave me the wrong im gasket. i tried to put it back in with the old gasket but once i got it all back in and started the im gasket was leaking so it would idle but as soon as i gave it some gas it would die out. But it looks good lol.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t...91122-1442.jpg

well so much for the gasket being the problem i just put the new gasket in and the same problem. it has to be the fact that i am trying to use a ls tb with the y8 im. There is what i believe to be a cold start sensor on the tb from the original y7 im but the new y8 or the ls tb do not have this option. So there is an empty plug? also i have no idea what the sensor is on the back of the im, it has a 2 prong connector and the plug i have empty is 3 prong?

It is your idle air control valve (that is on your y7 tb), you need that in order to keep the car running. As for the sensor on the back of the intake mainfold; there should be two. One is the intake temp sensor and should be a two pronger, the other one is the iacv (idle air control valve). If I recall correctly you needed an auto y8 intake mainfold to have it all work out properly...otherwise there will be no intake air temp sensor on the main (extend the wires and put it on the intake or drill a hole in your mani and tap it) and I believe the iacv has to be re-wired. Someone else needs to give some input if this is the case. Or hit up d-series.org or www.honda-tech.com and commence searching.

yeah the air temp sensor fit in my cool air intake but the idle air control valve is what has me confused. its hard to find any info on what 2 of the three wires you need to use.
