I'm connecting only a coil where do I run the negative part?

In the anal by the distributor

just an external coil? take the stock one out. Hook up the negative n positive out of the distributor to the new external coil. Put the cap on, hook up plug wire to external coil n cap, start car, rev the fuck outta it. And be fast!
