I have all your answers.if the nj title has the letter (s), that means that the car is salvage REBUILT.which in that case, regitering it will be a breeze.what I recommend is that u call the nj DMV salvage title number which u can find online or ask me for it and say that you bought the car and want to see if it's currently salvage or rebuilt due to you buying the car as clean title but then u ran a vehicle report n it shows other wise, well that's what u tell them so they run the vin.if they tell u it's reconstructed title then it's rebuilt. That's what I had to do in the past and only nj DMV can let u know the status of that car.but i myself believe it's rebuilt n not salvage.Just do what I listed above n you will be ok.don't do a 10k mistake like I did when I bought the tsx from nj. Alot of grimey m.f up that way.U will have to take it to emissions and possibly inspection due to it being from out of state.but that's it.If u ever find a sweet deal on a salvage car(not salvage rebuilt) and want it badly due to price, etc,u can take a 3hr ride(more or less) to Vermont and register the car with your ct address and receive a title in 1 month to your mailbox.u still pay 6% tax and have to take it to inspection which is real easy out there.hope I answered your questions. Lmk what u decide

You need to call the CT DMV and find out exactly what their requirements are for repairing a salvage titled car.

I say this because my neighbor's car was damaged. The insurance company totaled the car due to it's FMV and not the cost of the damage.

They brought it to a licensed body shop and they took pictures of the work as it progressed. I don't know if picture taking is a requirement or not, but it helps as part of the documentation process.

Then the car had to be flat-bedded so that it could then be inspected by the DMV, both the car and the repair receipts (and pictures).

You cannot get temporary plates, have the car fixed and then drive it to the DMV facility for inspection.

NOTE: YOU CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR TO BE INSPECTED AND THE CAR MUST BE ON A FLATBED OR [LEGALLY REGISTERED] CAR CARRIER -- NO WHEELS OF THE SALVAGED CAR MAY TOUCH THE GROUND WHEN BEING TRANSPORTED TO THE DMV FOR INSPECTION.

You will need to bring, in addition to the car, full documentation of the work performed and/or parts installed.

You will also need a new emissions test.

        Read this: http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a...NavCtr=|#30238

With that being said, I would stay away from the big headache. Good Luck!

U are correct 12pack but the car he is interested in buying is already rebuilt. So he will be fine. Plus DMV from ct sucks balls. U can go to Vermont and be registered/inspected all in a few hours and with your ct address n liscence and u don't have to pay taxes at the end of the year. Can't be beat.

if it has a rebuilt title its prolly good since it already went thru inspection.
if its salvaged then it has to go to inspection to get rebuilt so u might be good....
                                gl anyways bro
