  • Compression test PSI readings. (Discussion thread)

Wassup guys just did a compression test on 2 engines.

    1997 H22 180,XXX

Readings where all in the 90PSI area.

    1995 H22 60-80K

    Cylinders 1 and 3 were 135PSI
    Cylinders 2 and 4 were 145PSI

I know that the 97 H22 is bad compression but can anyone give input on the 95 H22?

Thats acceptable! Did u do 4,3,2,1 battery could be draining and giving less power to the starter. But that is very low comp for a h22

make sure the throttle is WIDE OPEN when cranking it over.

      Was that cold or warm?

throttle was not open at all, and the 180kkk H22 was hot. the other was warm.

thats 100% not true. when you start your car do you floor the gas pedal? didnt think so. those all sound really low. make sure its threaded in tight and do it again. if you get the same results the motors are no good

the throttle needs to be held open when you do it... or the readings will be off

i might be wrong. you could do it both ways and see what happens. i know on mine it dosent need to be WOT.

He says he could be wrong , so he doesn't actually know. Everytime I did a compression test on my ls's it was always 90 across all 4
