  • thought i blew my new turbo

finally got my rex to the point where i could start it again. new turbo kit i just about finished installing on my lsv. start it and hold the turbo for 45 seconds...good oil pressure everythings is sweet. 15 mins later my garage is full off smoke..like wtf ahh shit. look at the drain line which was temporary and it was kinked. i got a braided one but need another fitting. i thought the turbo already shit the bed but changed the line and it seems fine now. will post some pics soon and some video in the near future. my avotar is a glimpse of the engine bay. but just thought id share.....peace

make sure you didnt blow the seals on that turbo. it may seem fine but check your charge pipe that leaves the turbo and see if it has a lot of oil going into it if so seals are hurting. by the way what kind or turbo is this? judging by your mani is this a ebay kit?

good info here. it's normal to see a little bit of oil coating the inside of charge pipes, but an excessive amount is usually seal leakage.
