  • quick question jumpy needle.

Just wondering what could cause my rpm needle to jump up and down.

for example im driving on the highway in 5th gear. 4000 rpms 70 miles per hour.

while i figure it should be steady on 4000...it SLIGHTLY moves up and down from around 38-39 to 41-42....NOT A HUGE JUMP AT ALL BUT ITS NOTICEABLE.

anyone know what it could possibly be? no cels or anything like that..

I honestly don't think so because i examined it when i had the flywheel resurfaced and it looked in pretty good shape and that was only like a month ago...but any other possibilities?

I wOULD SAY ITS A VOLTAGE ISSUE. cHECK WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING OUT WHEN THE CAR IS ON FROM THE ALTERNATOR

Ur seals could be bad allowing oil to get on the flywheel causing it to slip... Yet again u would know if ur clutch is slipping.. Or at least I'd hope so
