maybe you need to take strainer out and bend the whole unit to help siphon the fuel better. Or you can get a strainer kit for the walbro that might help. May also help that "area".

Same happened to me when I got my car back from the body shop. I was filling up every 120 miles. Thought it was the pump, it was the breather from the tank that the body shop screwed up. So, the vapors were not venting. Just like when a tanker drops a load of fuel.As the fuel is being pumped into the ground the vapors go back into the tanker and then the tanker returnes to the plant where they are sucked back out. Removed the tank fixed the breather on the gas tank removed the side panel and fixed the other breather. I can now get about 300 miles to a tank off boost.

did you make sure the pump is all the way at the botom of the sender unit?

sometimes the walboro is smaller then the stock pump, so you need to use a longer hose on the sender unit so that it sits at the bottom of the tank.

i see it happen all the time where people use the stock hose which is to short and the pump is up in the middle of the tank and not able to reach all the fuel.
