Looking for a cheap GOOD all motor swap

Alright listen CTvTEC people, i have about $600 cash and im looking for a good motor for my 96 ek hatch. I need a good motor asap. A motor that i dont have to be messing with every other day. i jus want a drop in and go and especially that can be a beast all motor. Right now all i have is a stock d16y8 and its kinda shitty unless i get an idea to make this babe fast by modding that single cam then ima just swap the motor. Please help me on what to do.
